NYC...what is it about you?

I know, I know, it's been over a week. At the insistence of my dear friend Jill, here's the update:

So I went to NYC this past weekend and had an ABSOLUTE blast. I mean, I always always have fun when I go up, but this time was the best ever. Jill was gracious enough to host to me in her adorable apartment and even host a dinner party in my honor. How fabulous a friend is she? She also found time to ply with me oceans of wine and I was nice enough to drag her to a new neighborhood bar. Bad influence? Perhaps. Much needed for both of us? You bet.

I will move there one day. Probably in the near future. I love NYC, but not in a "Times Square and Broadway shows are so fun to see when I visit" way. I love NYC in a "can't wait to have an apartment the size of a closet, ride the subway every day and mourn the loss of green space" way. I know I would thrive in NYC. So, anybody have any job leads?

The real reason I was up there was for the bridal shower and bachelorette party of my good friend Kris. Both were fun and it was nice to catch up with old college friends.

So, mad props to my dearest friend on the earth for the hospitality, food, drink, and general good times. More to come, J-Dawg!!

LET'S GO SKINS!

Skins: 16
Bucs: 10

The Skins looked pretty damn good in their first game today, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I honestly had no idea how good Clinton Portis was (and if he was worth giving up Champ Bailey for) and the answer to that question is a resounding YES! Clinton ran for 149 yards (149 yards, people!) and helped set up 2 of the 3 successful field goals. All in all, pretty good. Not yet spectacular, though. They looked sloppy in the third quarter, especially during the play where Mark Brunell tripped over Cory Raymer and Ronde Barber (Tiki's brother) ran the intercepted ball in for a touchdown. That looked like the Redskins I know best, not together. But they pulled it out in the end and I'm happy.

Next week: Redskins vs. Giants. Oooo, a nice divisional battle.

The Weekend and Men

I understand that the odds of me meeting a guy I want to date in a bar are very slim. However, that certainly doesn't stop me from getting all gussied up to go out. I'd love to blame the lack of decent men I meet on the city I live in, but honestly, I think that it's more the age I am. I've tried the friend of friend route (and while all my friends and their boyfriends are fabulous, most of their friends are married, engaged or otherwise involved), the work route (I work with all women) and the extracurricular route (I'm an actress. I think that explains it). So where from there? Guess I'll just have to have faith in blind luck. Or dumb luck, as the case may be.

Regardless, it was a mostly fun weekend. Nice to see my peeps, whom I haven't hung out with in a while.

Which one is your favorite?

The Fug Blog

If you haven't heard of the Fug Blog, you have to go to it right now. It's hilarious. A web version of "Fashion Police", if you will. They update almost every day.

I've Succumbed

So, I started a blog. I can't decide if this makes me cool or a really big nerd. I'm sure most of the people reading this would say the latter. Anyway, I can't promise that this will be all that scintillating or exciting, but I'll try and update every few days.

I just started rehearsals for a new show (I know! I'm such a glutton for punishment) called Diamond Dead. I'm only understudying, but I will get at least one performance. It's going to be a really good show, so I'll let everyone know when I go on. You can read lots more about it here:

www.ddonstage.com

The super short back story on it is that it's going to be a movie (that's been years in development) from the director of Night of the Living Dead and the composer of The Rocky Horror Show. Since the movie is still in the early stages, my theatre company (Landless Theatre Company for those not in the know) got the rights to do a stage show. It's already generated some international controversy because some super zealous Christians got their panties in a bundle because at one point Marilyn Monroe was being considered to play Jesus in the film version. This is no longer the case, but that doesn't stop people. There's a whole controversy section on the website.

Anyway, have a good weekend. It's the only one I'm in town for so I'm drinking it up. Good times!
